Vizag will be headquarters of rail zone: Venkaiah

Union Minister for Urban Development M. Venkaiah Naidu has reiterated that Visakhapatnam will get the headquarters of the proposed new railway zone in Andhra Pradesh.

Mr. Venkaiah Naidu spoke of his love and attachment to the largest city in Andhra Pradesh post bifurcation – Visakhapatnam – and his association with it for 25 years as a student of Andhra University and his foray into student politics. He said part of the funds were sanctioned in the budget for the Vizag – Chennai Industrial Corridor (VCIC) Medical equipment manufacturing cluster, and Indian Institute of Management-Visakhapatnam (IIM-V) were already sanctioned for the city. A Krishi Vignan Kendra has been sanctioned for Visakhapatnam district recently and the foundation stone for the same would be laid at Chodavaram soon. VisakhapatnamInternational Airport was being developed further.

Visakhapatnam MP Kambhampati Haribabu said that a total of 12 institutions have been sanctioned for Visakhapatnam and was optimistic that the pending Tribal University and Railway Zone would soon be realised soon.

Health Minister Kamineni Srinivas announced that a level-1 trauma care centre and a gynaecology centre would be inaugurated at the Visakha Institute of Medical Sciences (VIMS) by Sankranthi and seven more speciality blocks would also be started there in the near future. The super special block at the King George Hospital (KGH) would be started soon.

Anakapalle MP Muttamsetti Srinivasa Rao, Ministers Ch. Ayyanna Patrudu and Ganta Srinivasa Rao, Director of CGHS D.C.Joshi, Additional Director Vijay Bhaskar and Collector Pravin Kumar were among those who participated.
