Launching the smart city projects and getting underground drainage for Gajuwaka, Malkauram and Pendurti will be on top of the priority list of GVMC for the next year.

Outlining the priorities for 2017, Municipal Commissioner M. Hari Narayanan told a press conference here that detailed project reports (DPRs) for underground drainage in the three areas were being vetted by AP Urban Infrastructure Asset Management Company and would be taken forward during the coming year in coordination with the company.

The Command and Control Centre, modernising of schools and ‘complete street’ projects under smart city would also be grounded during the coming year, the Commissioner said.

For command and control centre, request for proposal had been floated and for modernisation of three schools, it would be initiated soon, the Commissioner said.

Mr. Hari Narayanan sought the co-operation of citizens in scoring well for the Swachh Bharat Survekshan beginning January 4 stating citizen’s feedback would get 25 per cent of marks.

The Google document was also available for voting and it should be used.

People may use the Apps -- Smart Vizag App and Swachhataa App -- for grievance redressal.

The survekshan would continue till February 12.

Besides introducing separation of dry and wet waste in one colony each in 72 wards, it would be extended to other areas in a phased manner. Bulk generators were also asked to separate waste and go in for compost.

To recycle waste, 7 per cent plastic was being used in place of bitumen in laying roads.

Asserting that GVMC would work in coordination with all other departments concerned, he said any issues relating to traffic would be ascertained from the police and addressed.

Necesssary action would be taken against those not using cellars for parking.
