VISAKHAPATNAM: The State government will be singing a pact with the National Industrial Corridor Development and Implementation Trust (NICDIT) during the 23rd edition of the CII Partnership Summit to be held from January 27 to 28 in Visakhapatnam.

This was disclosed by Director of Industries Kartikeya Mishra here on Thursday.

Mr. Mishra said that the pact would enable the government to speed up the work on the industrial corridors such as the Visakhapatnam-Chennai corridor.

As per the NICDIT’s new role, the Central government will bear 50 per cent of the equity through funding and the State government will contribute 50 per cent by giving the required land.

AP would be the first State to sign the share-holding agreement, he said.

This apart, for the first time in a partnership summit, a sectoral roundtable would be held.

“This will be sector-specific deliberation, where Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu intends to highlight various things such as skill sets and strategic importance to the sectoral CEOs. The focus will be on aerospace and defence, textile, electronics, biotech and pharma,” said Mr. Kartikeya Mishra.

Twenty Union Ministers, including Minister for Commerce Nirmala Seetharaman, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Minister for Urban Development Venkaiah Naidu, Minister for Surface Transport Nitin Gadkari, Minister for Power and Coal Piyush Goyal, and Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu confirmed their participation.

Commerce and trade Ministers from 12 countries such as the UAE, Cambodia, Ukraine, Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh also confirmed their participation. Trade delegations from six countries also confirmed their participation.

Mr. Kartikeya Mishra told The Hindu that the Chief Minister would give away the Time India Award on day-one of the meet and have over 50 one-to-one meetings with delegations and industry captains.
