Not a ‘gangrape’, say police

The city police on Thursday confirmed that the 60-year-old woman who claimed to be gangraped by four persons, was not raped, but there was an attempt of sexual assault.

On Monday, the 60-year-old woman had lodged a complaint in One Town police station that she was gangraped by four drunk men on Sunday night near Poorna Market area.

“Based on her complaint we had sent her for medical examination and as per the preliminary reports, there was no sign of rape, but she was sexually assaulted,” said Joint Commissioner of Police A.S. Khan ata Press coference here on Thursday.

“To confirm further we have sent some material evidences to the Regional Forensic Science Laboratory (RFSL) for some more confirmation,” he added.

“We are still in search of the man who assaulted her,” said Mr. Khan. Investigation is on
