Motorcyclist waylaid near flyover

A motorcyclist was waylaid near the Telugu Talli flyover and robbed of his cash and valuables by an unidentified gang in the wee hours on Monday.

Anand Kumar of Akkayyapalem returned from Srikakulam by train in the early hours of Monday. He took his motorcycle, which he left at the parking lot the previous day, to go home. The bike ran out of fuel near the flyover and stopped.

Three persons, who were on a bike noticed him and approached him on the pretext of helping him and robbed him of Rs.1,800 cash and a gold ring. Based on a complaint filed by the victim, Fourth Town Inspector B. Tirumala Rao registered a case and has taken up investigation.

In a separate case, eunuchs beat up A Srinivas and looted Rs. 23,000 cash while he was returning home on foot near LIC Building in the midnight. Srinivas came to city from Rajahmundry by bus and was walking down the road. Noticing that Srinivas was alone at that time, the eunuchs attacked him and made away with Rs. 23,000 from his pocket.

Investigation is on. The police have registered case and are investigating it.

Man gets lifer for murder

The Second Additional District Judge U. Satya Rao on Monday sentenced K Nageswara Rao to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs.500 for killing his brother Ramanna over property disputes. The police said Nageswara Rao murdered his elder brother Ramanna at Sadengi village under G Madugula police station limits in the Agency area of the district on February 17, 2014 following a dispute over sharing of gold and silver ornaments.

The judge found Satya Rao guilty and sentenced him to undergo life imprisonment.
