A large number of Sikhs thronged Gurudwara Sadh Sangat and offered prayers to mark the 350th birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh here on Thursday.

The celebrations began with ‘Akhand Path’ and ‘kirtans’ that continued for a couple of hours. Langar was served to all. Those who participated in various community activities felt that it was an honour to unite as an extended family and pay tribute to the spiritual leader of the Sikhs.

From decorating the shrine to serving lunch, many took part in a number of activities held as part of the celebrations. For Ravindar Singh, who came to Gurudwara from One Town area, it was an occasion to serve people.

“I visit the shrine every week and feel nice to serve lunch and clean vessels too. Being part of the chores such as these help us spread love, unity and brotherhood,” he said.

President of Gurudwara Sadh Sangat D.S. Anand along with others participated. Special prayers were offered to Guru Granth Sahib. Gurudwara reverberated with melodious kirtans from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and again from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
