ICAI-Ukkunagaram to celebrate jubilee

Ukkunagaram chapter of the Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICAI) is organising a two-day workshop as part of its silver jubilee celebrations at Ukku Club here on Saturday and Sunday.

Chairman of the Visakhapatnam chapter of ICAI P.V.N. Madhav told mediapersons here on Thursday that a seminar will be held covering current topics such as demonetisation, cost reduction measures in steel industry, GST preparedness and digital transformation.

Former chairman of the Southern India Regional Council of ICAI K. Sanyasi Rao said ‘Changes in Economic Scenario-Role of Cost and Management Accountants’ would be the theme of the workshop. “Plenty of opportunities are in store for the CMAs as the professional course is now being preferred by many across the country. The well-designed syllabus that focus on economics and management, accounting, laws and ethics, statistics, direct taxation, cost and management audit, among several others has increased the demand for Cost and Management Accountancy multi-fold,” he said.

While the Ukkunagaram branch of ICAI caters to 50 students, Visakhapatnam branch is imparting training to 250 candidates at present.

Chairman of ICAI, Ukkunagaram N.V.B. Rama Sarma, said the inaugural session would be followed by a technical session. Vice-chairman P.V.S. Suryanarayana and secretary V.S.R. Kotaiah, were present.

About 300 participants from across the country are expected to take part in the two-day workshop which will be attended by ICAI members and central council members of the institution. President of ICAI Manas Kumar Thakur, Chairman and Managing Director of RINL P. Madhusudan and Chief Secretary and AP government’s Special Chief Secretary and IT Advisor J.A. Chowdary are expected to attend the inaugural session scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
