Hussain given additional charge of sports officer

Senior Divisional Personnel Officer Sakkeer Hussain has been given additional charge of Divisional Sports Officer (DSO) of East Coast Railway Sports Association, Waltair.

Mr. Hussain assumed office at ECoRSA Stadium and presided over a meeting of sports officials and coaches of the local office here.

The previous incumbent was M. Yelvender Yadav, who was Sports Officer earlier from 2012 to Jan-2017.

Mr. Hussain did his Doctorate in Agriculture from Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi, and joined the Indian Railway Personnel Service in 2001. His initial posting was at Bilaspur, South East Central Railway as Assistant Personnel Officer.

Prior to assuming charge as Senior Divisional Personnel Officer, Waltair, he worked in various capacities as Senior Divisional Personnel Officer, Deputy Chief Personnel Officer, Chairman of Railway Recruitment Cell, in SEC Railway, Bilaspur. He served as Director Tea Board, Embassy of India Moscow on deputation. Before joining the Railways, he worked as Scientist in the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi, according to a statement issued by the Divisional Commercial Manager (Coordination) G. Suneel Kumar.

He represented the Kerala University Hockey Team in the inter university sports meet. He participated in horse riding, rock climbing and river rafting competitions and bagged medals.
