A tense situation prevailed in Andhra University campus on Tuesday following an attack on PG students by research scholars late on Monday night. Two PG students who were severely injured were shifted to the King George Hospital in the EMRI 108 ambulance.

A case has been registered and police picket has been provided in the campus to prevent the situation from going out of control, Three Town CI K. Ranga Raju said. PG students Srinivas and Ranga Reddy went to the ‘Vidya’ hostel for filling water cans when some research scholars spotted them. The research scholars allegedly beat them up without reason resulting in severe injuries .
