The first day of SSC examination passed off peaceful with the centres recording about 99.66 % attendance, here on Friday. Of the total 56,052 candidates55,828 turned up, with 224 absentees.
In the district 250 centres were set up and about 2,500 staff were drafted from various departments, primarily from the education department to ensure smooth conduct of examination.
According Joint Collector- 2 D.V. Reddy, who inspected two centres, said Section 144 was imposed at all the centres to avoid untoward incidents.
DEO C.V. Renuka informed The Hindu , no malpractices were recorded on the first day.
About 13 squads were deputed to check on the centres and about 81 centres were checked by officials, including six by the DEO.
State-level observer G. Krishna Rao from IISC- Nellore also visited four exam centres.
