Apart from preserving the existing trees in the YSR-VUDA Central Park, 500 more will be added to it to improve the greenery.

VUDA Vice-Chairman N. Yuvaraj visited the park on Wednesday along with former Union energy secretary E.A.S. Sarma, president of the Praja Spandana C.S. Rao, former vice-chancellors K.V. Ramana and V. Balamohandas, retired botany professor Maheswari Devi, retired conservator of forests Trinadha Rao and nature consultant Padmavathi and others.

While assuring them that the VUDA would take all steps to make it a lung-space for the city, he invited their suggestions. They suggested giving priority to neem plants in view of their several traditionally known qualities. A plan to harvest rainwater should also be implemented.

The VUDA has already taken initiative for recording the existence of trees in the park by numbering and naming them. About 137 trees of 13 species have been catalogued.

VUDA Chief Engineer I. Viswanatha Rao and DFO S. Rammohan were present.
