A total of 500 cameras will be installed at various junctions and automated traffic signals installed at 94 junctions to check the growing traffic violations, according to the Director General of Police V. Dinesh Reddy.
Addressing a media conference here on Thursday, he said that Tra-Colts would be stationed at high risk junctions to ease the traffic flow and D-Colts would be stationed at 21 places to detect crime.
He commended Police Commissioner J. Purnachandra Rao for coming out with the new initiatives that were meant to reduce accidents and check crime.
He said that a new police station was planned to be set up at Visakhapatnam airport.
A police outpost would be started at Simhachalam in view of the high tourist influx from various parts of the State as also from other States.
Senior Inspectors would be the Station House Officers of police stations and specialised crime would be dealt with by Central Crime Station (CCS).
Mr. Reddy said that one more Sub Division each would be opened in Srikakulam and Vizianagaram districts.
A Police Circle would be started at Nakkapalli in Visakhapatnam district.
Earlier in the day, the DGP inaugurated the District Crime Records Bureau (DCRB) at the District Police Office.
Deputy Inspector General (Visakha Range) Soumya Mishra and Superintendent of Police (Visakha Rural) G. Srinivas were present.
He inaugurated a gym at City Police grounds and gave away rewards to police officers who showed exemplary zeal in the detection of cases.
