49 prisoners released

Under the grant of special remission to Life Convicted Prisoners on the occasion of Republic Day, 49 life convicts were released on Tuesday from Rajahmundry Central Jail. The Government had taken a policy decision to grant remission of sentence to life convicted prisoners.

The Committee under the Chairmanship of the Principal Secretary to Government, Home Department examined the list of eligible prisoners and recommended life convicts all over the state for grant of remission of sentence.

The released prisoners include 47 men and two women and mostly belonging to Krishna and Guntur districts.
