400 kg ganja seized, two arrested

Around 400 kg of dry ganja, valued at Rs.12 lakh, was seized and two persons from Uttar Pradesh were arrested by District Police at Aradagudem area under Pedabayalu police station limits in Vizag Agency on Saturday morning. On a tip-off, the Pedabayalu Police conducted a raid, seized the ganja and arrested the duo as they were making arrangements for transporting the ganja, according to SI T. Malleswara Rao.

The arrested were identified as Bhamshankar Roy (58) and Viswanadh Roy (52), both natives of Patna. The police also seized Rs.53,570 in cash, two mobile phones and a car. The duo procured the contraband from Pedabayalu and packed it in gunny bags and placed them beside the road at the remote place for transportation. The smugglers were chased before being apprehended as they tried to escape from the spot on noticing the police team.
