About 31 villages in Devipatnam mandal were inundated due to heavy flood to river Godavari from Friday early hours.
MLA K.V.K. Viswanath visited Veeravelli Lanka and Devipatnam villages in a boat and supervised the distribution of 562 quintals of rice, 14,050 litres of kerosene distributed in each village in entire Devipatnam mandal.
During his visit to Kondamodalu, Tatiwada, Taliperu and Katchuluru villages, the tribal asked the MLA to arrange distribution of ration to people who lost their ration cards. The MLA promised them that he would take the issue to the notice of the Collector and also ask him to give compensation of Rs.15,000 per acre, who lost plantations due to floods. He said medical camps would be conducted in all the 31 villages as a precautionary measure and sanitation drive would be taken up in all villages.
