In a road accident, three persons including a 10-year-old kid, were killed and six seriously injured, when an auto-rickshaw in which they were travelling collided with another auto-rickshaw, near Marturu area under the Anakapalle Rural police station limits on Thursday.

The deceased were K Chinnari (10), Swarajya Lakshmi (40) and another unidentified youth around 25 years of age.

According to Anakapalle Circle Inspector (Traffic) K Srinivasa Rao, one auto-rickshaw with eight persons, including the driver, was heading to Anakapalle from Chodavaram and the other was moving towards Chodavaram from Anakapalle.

According to the police, the former was running at a very high speed. To avoid hitting a two-wheeler, the driver swerved to the right and hit the other auto that was ferrying four persons from Chodavaram to Anakapalle.

While the unidentified youth died on the spot, eight members were shifted to a hospital.

Swarajya Lakshmi and Chinnari died in the hospital while undergoing treatment. A case has been registered.
