2-day meet on e-security gets under way

A two-day conference on e-security and mobile web applications got under way here on Friday.

Inaugurating the “Southern Regional Conference on Innovative Technologies (SRCITVIZAG–2013)” on e-security and mobile web applications organised by the Computer Society of India Visakhapatnam Chapter, Chief Commissioner Income Tax S. K. Pathak stressed upon the need to make Internet a safe place.

He urged the CSI to educate the masses on the use of lnternet and lauded the CSI local chapter for its service by holding seminars and conferences. Elaborating on the use of the web he pointed out that the Income Tax department was using IT extensively to provide better services for everyone.

Chairman, CSI, Vizag chapter and Director (Finance), RINL, P. Madhusudan, stressed the need for this kind of conferences and appreciated the efforts put by CSI, Vizag chapter, in increasing the awareness on IT in the city. He likened ethical hacking to internal audit. Executive Director (Automation & IT), RINL, P. Ramudu, highlighted the importance of IT security in the wake of emerging e-commerce and e-governance. Prof. D.B.V. Sarma appealed to the IT students to take up ethical hacking as profession. Secretary CSI Vizag chapter Suman Das spoke.
