The airport here will function 24x7 within two months or I shall change my name, Rajya Sabha member and secretary Congress Parliamentary Party T Subbarami Reddy said here on Sunday.

Promising to take up the seemingly insurmountable issue of getting the Navy to agree to maintain watch and ward staff round-the-clock to enable international flights to land and take off from the city of destiny, Mr Reddy said that he would leave no stone unturned to achieve it.

Acknowledging his ‘friend’ Ms. Purandeswari’s efforts to get the Eastern Naval Command to extend the working hours for a couple of days to enable flight to and from Singapore, he said once he succeeds her effort would become redundant.

Of the 12 trains passing through Duvvada without touching Visakhapatnam railway station, seven have been redirected to touch the city, he said and promised that the other five will soon come to the city.

He also promised to take up with the railway authorities to restore the train to Shirdi from next month.

ONGC and BHEL have committed to give Rs.15 crore each over the next five years for King George Hospital here, he said and recalled that he had been able to get different public sector companies to commit Rs 50 crore over the next five years.
