The Cyber Crime Police on Saturday arrested two youths from Mumbai on the charge of making a bomb hoax call to the HSBC BPO here.
The bomb hoax call was received by the HSBC BPO at Siripuram around 9 p.m. on December 27. The call was traced to Mumbai.
Giving details to the media, Deputy Commissioner of Police B. Balakrishna said a team from the Cyber Crime police went to Mumbai and tracked down the accused – Mohammad Sujauddin and Robiul Islam – who were employed at a hotel in Mumbai. The duo admitted to have made the hoax calls but claimed that they were only trying to threaten Rafi.
The DCP said on verification it was found that they have not contacted any individual by that name. When asked by the media, the duo claimed that they only thought of having fun playing pranks after picking up the phone number of HSBC from the telephone directory.
A case was earlier registered under Section 506 (ii) of the IPC and 66 (A) of the IT Act, 2000, at the Three Town Police Station on a complaint lodged by the HSBC security manager.
The case was investigated by Inspector B.V. Venkateswara Rao and his team.
The accused would be produced in court.
Additional DCP Atchuta Rao, Assistant Commissioners of Police Ch. Adinarayana (Special Branch) and S. Venkata Rao (East Division) were present.
