Two police constables, who allegedly forced a married woman to have sex with them, were arrested by the Arilova Police on Monday.

K.V.J. Vara Prasad (30) and Praveen (26), the accused police constables, one from the City Special Branch and the other from Rural SB, were posted for observation of criminals at the Central Prison. The victim used to visit the jail frequently to meet her husband, who was serving a jail sentence for buying stolen gold.

Vara Prasad took the mobile number of the woman and started harassing her. Cashing on the innocence of the victim, he promised to get the sentence of her husband reduced and reportedly threatened that he would have to remain in jail forever if she did not give in to his demand. After having sex with her, he tipped off his colleague Praveen, and he too forced the woman into submission.

The accused constables reportedly blackmailed her and even threatened to harm her husband.

They sexually harassed her for about a month in this way.

After the victim’s husband was released from jail 10 days ago, he noticed that she was not her usual self and after a little prodding she told him of the harassment of the two constables. The couple lodged a complaint with the Arilova Police on Sunday.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (Madhurawada) K. Ranga Raju confirmed the arrest of the accused constables.
