2 arrested for 'transporting' ganja

Two persons were arrested by the Paderu Police on a charge of trying to transport ganja.

Murugan Kavitha of Coimbatore and B. Raja Rao of Paderu were caught by the police while they were trying to board a bus at Paderu on Saturday. They were taking away a bag containing 50 kgs of ganja.

Woman, child found dead

The body of a mother and child were found in the Thandava Reservoir at Nathavaram on Saturday.

Amala (20) of was living with her husband at Madhava Nagaram of Nathavaram mandal in the district. On Friday she took her daughter Harshini (2) to the neighbouring village for treatment as she was ill. On Saturday, their bodies were found in the reservoir.

Her husband was bed-ridded for sometime following a surgery.

It was suspected that she could have committed suicide due to the ill-health of her husband. Police are investigating.
