Two persons from Delhi were arrested on the charge of smuggling ganja, by a team from the Prohibition and Excise department near Thamaram village in Makavarapalem mandal of Visakhapatnam district on Wednesday.
The enforcement team also seized about 180 kg of dry ganja, valued at Rs. 18 lakh, cash of Rs14,500, a mobile phone and a Honda City car from the two.
Acting on a tip-off, the mobile team led by Inspector B. Rammohan Reddy intercepted the car and seized six bags of dry ganja (each bag containing 30 kg. of ganja), which were placed in the boot of the car.
The arrested were identified as M. Lallam (29) and Naresh Mehta (28). The duo had procured the ganja from interior pockets of Visakha Agency area and was transporting it to Hyderabad in the car.
Excise officials said that the owner of the car, Krishan Paul, was the prime accused and both Lallam and Naresh were working under him. A case was also registered.
