15 subsidised “Anna” canteens to come up in city

A total of 15 subsidised “Anna” canteens will function from October 2 and will be run by self-help groups.

Subsidised food will be served at specified timings at the canteens that will be provided a subsidy of up to Rs.1.5 lakh per month by GVMC, according to Municipal Commissioner M. V. Satyanarayana.

The subsidised canteens are proposed on the lines of “Amma Canteens” in Tamil Nadu by the State Government.

Mr. Satyanarayana said breakfast will be served from 6 a.m. to 8.30 a.m.; lunch from 12 noon to 3 p.m. and dinner from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the canteens.

Premises, material and grinders will be provided by GVMC. Members of self-help groups working in the canteens will be paid daily wages of Rs.300 each.

Public toilets

Solar-powered toilets to ensure water supply will come up at four busy junctions in the city on the lines of “Namma” toilets in Tamil Nadu, says Mr. Satyanarayana.

They will come up at the Railway station, the RTC Complex, Ramakrishna Beach and NAD Kotha Road.

Each of the toilets will be constructed with cost ranging between Rs.15 lakh and Rs.16 lakh.
