Hosting the India’s biggest business conference on blockchain by Fintech Valley-Vizag on Monday and Tuesday yielded rich dividends with as many as 15 fintech companies coming forward to launch their operations in the city.

“This will strengthen our efforts to develop a comprehensive fintech ecosystem so as to make Visakhapatnam the global capital for fintech with focus on blockchain and other futuristic technologies,” Special Chief Secretary and IT Advisor to Chief Minister J.A. Chowdary told The Hindu.

One of the main gains was the signing of MoU by Conduent, a $6 billion New Jersey-based multinational to open its biggest development centre in the city.

IT Minister Nara Lokesh, summing up on the outcome of the two-day conference, said the response was overwhelming with many evincing interest in starting their operations. He said they would also make efforts to bring regulators including banks and insurance companies to Visakhapatnam.

Mr. Lokesh said the completion of construction of Millennium Tower by AP Electronics and IT Agency (APEITA) next month would provide huge built-up space for startups and technology companies at Rushikonda.

He said AP Medtech Zone to provide space to medical equipment manufacturing units would come up near Visakhapatnam Steel Plant.
