One person died and around 35 others were injured, 11 of them having sustained severe injuries, when a private bus fell on its side at Dorathota near Bheemunipatnam, around 30 km from here on Friday.
“There were around 40 persons in the hired bus,” said a worker.
The commuters were going to a shrimp export company for work.
“It was around 9 a.m. and the driver of the company bus seemed to be drunk.

Casualty Medical Officer HRK Dora said that one Meesala Appala Raju (20) was brought dead while 11 severely injured were being scanned for fractures. The names of the injured are: G. Ram Babu (40), who seemed to have 100 per cent fractures, K. Kali Das (20), M. Chittemma (28), D. Sanyasamma (29), K. Yellayamma (30), R. Kondamma (45), B. Ganga (30), G. Gowri (35), B. Demudamma (30), N. Chittemma (28) and R. Paradesamma (35). Dr. Dora said that all the injured were out of danger. Bheemunipatnam Police are investigating the case.
