The CPI(M) has struck an alliance with the YSR Congress to contest ZPTC elections in the district. The CPI(M) will contest the elections in Tiruvur and Pedana along with the YSRC, and will sail with the CPI in Nandigama.
Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, CPI(M) district secretary R. Raghu said that the party would contest 14 ZPTCs and 90 MPTCs. Likewise, the CPI(M) has entered the fray in 43 wards/divisions in Vijayawda Municipal Corporation (VMC) and eight municipalities. The discussions with the YSRC regarding Gannavaram ZPTC were on the verge of finalisation, he said.
Mr. Raghu said that the CPI (M) was forerunner in highlighting the public issues and problems faced by them. The government was compelled to review its policies and put decisions on hold. Some of the achievements include delinking of Aadhaar and subsidy gas supply, hike in wages of contract workers. Scarcity of sand and its impact on construction labourers, lapses in JNNURM housing, agitation against water meters and hike in water charges etc., he said.
CPI(M) State secretariat members B.R. Tulasi Rao, Y. Kesava Rao and V. Umamaheswara Rao were also present.
