Former MLAs Samineni Udayabhanu and Jaleel Khan wanted the people of Krishna district to ask Telugu Desam President N.Chandrababu Naidu, who was on the ‘Vasthunna Meekosam Padayatra’, what he had done for them.
Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, Mr Udayabhanu said that not a single project was taken up in Krishna district when he was Chief Minister.
Mr Naidu’s father-in-law and the founder of TDP N.T.Rama Rao established the University of Health Sciences when he was Chief Minister and former Chief Minister Y.S.Rajasekhar Reddy took up several projects in the district. Pulichintala project, Delta Modernisation, Machilipatnam Port, IIIT (Nuzvid), IT park and Veterinary University at Gannavaram and Krishna University were all projects initiated by Dr Reddy in Krishna district and for the benefit of people in Krishna district.
High drama
Instead of doing good for the people of the district Mr Naidu was responsible for cases being booked against them when they protested against power tariff hike. Several cotton farmers committed suicide and weavers died of starvation, Mr Udayabhanu alleged
Mr Jaleel Khan alleged that the “high drama” of Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal at Anumanchipalli on Monday was done to highlight the padayatra of Mr Naidu.
He alleged that Mr Rajagopal became a rich industrialist with help from Mr Naidu. Mr Rajagopal and Mr Naidu were similar to one another in that they both came up politically by backstabbing their fathers-in-law.
A CBI inquiry should be ordered on how Mr Rajagopal became rich, Mr Khan said.
The leaders challenged Mr Naidu for a public debate on what he had done for Krishna district in Vijayawada after the padayatra reaches here.
