Senior Telugu Desam leader Kodela Sivaprasada Rao said that it was former Chief Minister Y.S Rajasekhara Reddy who came up with the proposal to divide Andhra Pradesh.

Dr. Rao further said that it has been three days since the Chief Minister had submitted resignation but it was not clear whether the Centre would recommend the President’s rule. Remarking that the manner in which the Centre had gone about bifurcation of the State was deeply insulting. “It is like disrobing an educated Telugu woman, murdering and burning the body,” he said.

Ponnur MLA Dhulipalla Narendra said the sentiments of Telugus, for which TDP founder president and former Chief Minister N.T. Rama Rao had fought, were damaged with bifurcation of the State. “We fought till the end to keep the State united. Now we will take the responsibility of reconstructing Seemandhra region,” said the TDP leaders.
