YSR Congress leaders Samineni Udaya Bhanu, P.Gowtham Reddy, S. Jaleel Khan and 20 other party workers were arrested when they tried to force their entry into the residence of Congress MP Lagadapati Rajagopal here on Monday.

The incident took place when the leaders along with about 200 party workers wanted to stage a dharna outside his house.

“We did not have any intention of barging into the MP’s house. But the paramilitary forces present there behaved in a very unruly manner. This led to a minor tussle and we were forcefully put into a police van and taken to the Patamata police station,” said Vijayawada Central In-Charge P. Gowtham Reddy.

The leaders were arrested on preventive grounds under Section 151 and later released on personal bond. YSRCP leader Vangaveeti Radha is on indefinite fast, coinciding with that of party founder Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy at his camp office in Hyderabad for the past three days.
