YSR birth anniversary celebrated

The ruling Congress party leaders paid homage to their leader at the larger-than-life statue of Dr Reddy at the Police Control Room.

Workers of the Congress Party and the Y.S.R.Congress Party vied with each other to celebrate the birth anniversary of former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy here on Sunday.

Shamianas were erected at several centres in the city with portraits or flexies of the former Chief Minister.

The ruling Congress party leaders paid homage to their leader at the larger-than-life statue of Dr Reddy at the Police Control Room.

Saying that Dr Reddy was for a unified Andhra Pradesh Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal made an open challenge to TRS president K.Chandrasekhara Rao.

The MP displayed a copy of the letter he had written to the TRS president after paying homage to Dr Reddy.

YSR Congress leaders and former MLAs Vangaveeti Radha Krishna and Jaleel Khan and former mayor Tadi Sakuntala and former corporator P.Gowtham Reddy participated in several meetings held to celebrate the birth anniversary of Dr Reddy.

YSR Congress party official spokesperson Gaddam Mutha Reddy participated in the birth anniversary celebrations of the former Chief Minister at the party office at Sitarampuram.

Mr Mutha Reddy said Rajasekhara Reddy was the architect of several welfare schemes in the State.

As a doctor he came up with the best medical welfare scheme and as the son of a farmer he provided several sops to farmers, Mr Mutha Reddy said.

The former Chief Minister’s birth anniversary was also celebrated at Vijayawada Central MLA Malladi Vishnu’s office at Governorpet.
