An admirer of former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy allegedly committed suicide by jumping into a well in Ambapuram village near here on Monday.

According to the police, 26-year old P. Prasad participated in a condolence meeting organised in the village, and took part in the poor-feeding as well. He became emotional and raised slogans in favour of the former Chief Minister, and jumped into a nearby well. The local people tried to rescue him, but in vain. The Two Town police retrieved the body.

In another case, a woman allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling in her sister’s residence in Vaddera colony in Ajit Singh Nagar on Monday.

V. Durga, 20, a resident of Vaddera colony, was married to Srinu, a resident of the same colony, three years ago. Srinu, a construction labourer, suspected her fidelity as she allegedly moved closely with Prasad, a mason, of the same colony. She went to her sister’s house on Sunday, and spoke to Prasad for a while. Noticing this, the relatives of Prasad thrashed her. Unable to bear this humiliation she committed suicide, her father T. Venkateswara Rao said in a complaint.
