The One Town police arrested one person, Pala Chanti, 27, in connection with the murder case of car driver Avala Rambabu, 30 years. The task force police made the arrest at the Pandit Nehru Bus Station on Saturday when the accused was travelling from Hyderabad to his native place in West Godavari. The police said Chanti and Rambabu were old friends and they were quarrelling over repayment of a loan of Rs. 70,000 taken by Rambabu. As there was serious misunderstanding, Chanti decided to liquidate his friend and took the help of his relative Nagaraju in this. He thought of selling Rambabu's car after killing him so as to recover his loan.

On July 24, Chanti along with the two others were travelling in the car from Eluru towards Hyderabad. When Rambabu fell asleep after crossing Keesara bridge, the duo used an electric wire and a knife to take his life. Later, they dumped the blood-stained body near Gollapudi outskirts near the highway and left the car near a bank ATM in Brahmana Veedhi in One Town police station limits. The police started investigating both cases simultaneously as there were some links like car found abandoned and body found on the same day. Rambabu hailed from Yadagirigutta. The police seized the wire and knife from the possession of the arrested. CI K.V.V.N.V. Prasad and his staff made the arrest. The other accused Nagaraju was yet to be arrested, the police said.
