The State government is contemplating taking World Bank (WB) loan for taking up drinking water schemes in nine districts, according to Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy here on Saturday.
He told the reporters here on Saturday that a team of officials went to the US to negotiate with the WB.
The State government was likely to receive Rs. 1,200 crore to Rs. 1,500 crore during this year.
New scheme
As many as 20 municipalities in nine districts, including Guntur and Nellore, would be covered under the new scheme.
The State government had earlier provided drinking water facilities in 86 municipalities under Urban Infrastructure Development Scheme for Small & Medium Towns (UIDSMT). Yet, 26 municipalities were to be provided drinking water schemes.
Of these, 16 to 20 municipalities would be selected for WB funds.
