Work like a soldier without uniform, students told

It was an inspiring talk by former Lt. General N.S. Malik for young minds. “Take inspiration from Antim pag (final step) of a soldier and work like a soldier without uniform,” said Mr. Malik, who served as the Deputy Chief of Army Staff.

He was delivering a lecture on ‘The role of youth in nation building’ organised by Sanskritik Gaurav Sansthan at P.B. Siddhartha College here on Tuesday.

The students had a very important role to play in the development of the nation, and they should understand the problems and challenges facing the country. Every student must think of the betterment of nation in everything that they do. This is where they can draw inspiration from a soldier’s resolution to make his step in the interest of nation soon after he completes training — Antim pag , he said.

Young generation should come forward to give strong political leadership. India has a number of challenges threatening its security and sovereignty. “You will shape the destiny of the country. We can thwart the challenges posed by Pakistan and other enemies only when we remain united and take firm decisions. India is a strong country. Unless we get strong leadership, we cannot take bold decisions to defend and safeguard our sovereignty,” he said. It was the nation that wins or loses a war but not a soldier. So, every citizen should act as soldier. Don’t turn blind to terrorist or Naxal activities taking place around you. State-sponsored terrorism like the one perpetrated by Pakistan, space warfare, and cyber warfare were new challenges faced by the nation. So, we must keep a watch. Keep your eyes and ears open, he said. Four Ps — people, political, professional and propaganda (media) — were essential for a nation to be powerful. There was no room for divergent views on national security. And, none of the Ps has exception from this cardinal rule, he asserted.

Prof. G.S. Murthy of Sansthan, Siddhartha College PG courses Director Prof. K. Krishna Murthy and others were present.
