Andhra Pradesh Ryotu Sangham state president P. Ramachandraiah and general secretary K.V.V. Prasad said that veterinary graduates and students were on strike for more than 20 days. The government should respond to their demand to withdraw the G.O. that would adversely affect animal husbandry.

The government should set up veterinary hospitals and rural livestock units. It was also requested to appoint veterinary doctors in about 1,500 RLUs.

Poultry and dairy were additional sources of income for close to 50 per cent of families in the State, they said, adding, “at this juncture, it is necessary to give a fillip to the Animal Husbandry department”.
