For a while, District Collector M. Buddha Prakash Jyothi became a student of eighth standard at Upper Primary School at Kesarapalli near here on Thursday.
The Collector sat in the class room for nearly half an hour to observe how the English teacher was imparting the lessons. Praising English teacher Padmaja for her ability, he suggested her to teach a new word every day to the students, and basic grammar.
The 5 to 8 standard students should be taught how to use the dictionary, he said.
He even relished the meals provided to the students under mid day-meal programme.
“The taste is good. Do you prepare the food everyday like this?” he asked the agency that was entrusted the job of preparing the food. The Mandal Educational Officers (MEOs) should inspect the quality of food, and have lunch along with the students at least once in a week, he said.
Students’ plea
Dr. Buddha Prakash, later, inspected the school library, water tank and computer lab. He inquired about the faculty available to teach the computers, and asked to update the software regularly for the benefit of students. He asked the school teachers to collect books from the donors.
The students, who interacted with the Collector, urged him to take necessary steps to upgrade their school into a high school. District Educational Officer D. Devananda Reddy told the Collector that there was no possibility of setting up a high school there already a high school within radius of three km.
MEO G. Jayababu, Sarvasikshya Abhiyan coordinator Srimanarayana, Community Mobilsing Officer (CMO) Rama Rao, Academic Monitoring Officer (AMO) G.P.H.Venkateswara Rao, Girl Child Development Officer (GCDO) Krishnaveni, ACs Sekhar and Gayatri and others were present.
