We demanded CBI inquiry, not SIT: Ayesha’s mother

‘Real culprits should be booked and justice be done’

Ayesha Meera’s mother Shamshad Begum on Saturday wondered why a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed to re-investigate the murder case of her daughter when they asked for a CBI inquiry. “We submitted representations to the Chief Minister, the Home Minister and the National Women Commission seeking an inquiry into the case by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). But the government issued a GO (No.132) forming SIT on Friday, which will be of no use.”

“There are chances of political leaders influencing the local police, who will book another youth like Pidatala Satyam Babu. The fresh investigation into the alleged rape and murder case should be done under the supervision of the Hyderabad High Court,” Ayesha’s mother said.

“The real culprits should be booked and justice be done. Taking the earlier experiences into account, we don’t have belief in the State police,” she said.
