Electing Congress to power in both residual Andhra Pradesh and Telangana will guarantee the development and growth of both states, said Union Minister for Rural Development Jairam Ramesh. The Union Minister spent more then two hours in Andhraratna Bhavan, the city Congress office, interacting with the media and giving pep talk to party workers on Tuesday.

When asked what was the guarantee that the financial commitments made in Andhra Pradesh Re-Organisation Act for the development of residual Andhra Pradesh would be implemented by the government formed at the Centre after the general elections, Mr. Ramesh said that it was binding on any government that was formed because it was passed in Parliament.

When asked what was the guarantee that the new government would not ignore the financial committees made by the Congress government, Mr. Ramesh said that the only way for the people of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana to be sure was to elect the Congress to power in both states.

Mr. Ramesh said that he was now an MP of Seemandhra and he had two more years before his term expired. In these two years he would fight along with the people of Seemandhra for implementation of the special packages.

Lauding the entrepreneurship of the Seemandhra people, he said the top seven contractors of the nation were from this region. Persons who were building big airports and big manufactures of drugs were from Seemandhra, he pointed out.

He said that keeping in view the enterprise of the Seemandhra people there was every possibility of Vijayawada becoming the next Hyderabad in the next couple of years. Central Minister J.D. Seelam said that the Congress leaders of Seemandhra would not stop fighting until the new State was developed. AICC SC Wing chairman Koppula Raju also spoke. Only Vijayawada MLAs Malladi Vishnu and Vellampalli Srinivas came to the party office. MLC Ilapuram Venkaiah was the only other elected representative present. Former Minister Devineni Rajasekhar and his son Avinash were there all through the interactions.
