VMC to restore vermicompost plants

March 14, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:45 am IST - VIJAYAWADA:

Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) Commissioner G. Veerapandian has said that necessary steps would be taken to restore vermicompost plants that are in dilapidated condition.

Reacting to a news item published in these columns with a headline ‘The rot sets in for vermicompost plants’ on December 14, 2014, Vijayawada MP Kesineni Srinivas (Nani) took a note of it and referred the matter to the officials concerned seeking reply.

In response, the Commissioner, in his letter addressed to Mr. Nani, said the corporation was taking steps to repair vermicompost plants at Vijayanagar Colony in Patamata and Electricity Colony.

However, the vermicompost plant at Ranigari Thota was removed as residents are planning to construct a function hall.
