Municipal Commissioner G.S. Panda Das visited the flood-affected areas on Sunday. He directed the Medical and Health department staff to take measures to prevent the outbreak of diseases.

The Commissioner visited the colonies in NSC Bose Nagar and LBS Nagar and enquired about pumping stagnated rain water. Mr. Das asked the sanitary officers to remove garbage in drainages and pump water from low lying areas into the main drainages and canals.

Health Department officials should take up anti-larva operations, spraying and release oil balls to prevent mosquito menace, particularly in the water pools in down areas in the city, he said.

Earlier, the VMC Commissioner inaugurated the health camp at Rajiv Nagar Urban Health Centre, organised by ESI Hospital for Dwakwa and CMEY staff, who are involved in sanitation works.

The Commissioner distributed masks and medicines to the workers.

Chief Medical Officer M. Satyanarayana Raju, Additional CMO Babu Srinivasa Rao, Senior medical officer Iqbal Hussain and other staff participated.
