Malladi Vishnu, the Vijayawada Central Assembly constituency MLA, said on Monday that he could push through proposals for the setting up of a kidney (dialysis) centre in the Government General Hospital, the introduction of instruction in Urdu medium in SRR and CVR Government College and the construction of a bridge to connect Rajarajeswaripet and Ajit Singh Nagar in the recent Assembly session. The severe mosquito problem the city was facing was highlighted with the Government taking a serious view of it, Mr. Vishnu said at a press conference.
As a person elected to the Assembly for the first time, he was “thoroughly disappointed with the counter-productive attitude of the Opposition”, particularly the Telugu Desam MLAs, he said.
Mr. Vishnu said the legislative Houses occupied a key place in democratic processes, but the Opposition parties had made it a habit to raise issues in question form only to disturb the proceedings of the House. Though it would cost the Government Rs.10,000 a minute to run the Assembly session, the Opposition was least concerned.
