Andhra Pradesh Minister Devineni Umamaheswara Rao at the Kanakadurga Temple in Vijayawada on Monday.

Indrakeeladri, abode of goddess Kanaka Durga, wore a festive look for the past two days when the temple witnessed heavy turnout of VVIPs. Even as the VIPs and VVIPs thronged the temple, devotees made a beeline for the temple from early hours.

The temple priests honoured the dignitaries with the sesha vastrams, silk vastrams of the presiding deity, laddu prasadam and photographs of goddess Kanaka Durga. Temple priests offered poorna kumbha swagatam to Govenor E.S.L. Narasimhan on Sunday, which is the norm to be followed only for the VVIPs such as Governor, Chief Minister and Chief Justices.

Mr. Narasimhan asked the temple authorities to ensure that his visit to the temple should not hamper devotees. Neither should it impact the traders atop Indrakeeladri.
