People of Gandepalli staged a dharna against Sentini bio-products factory on Monday asking the State government to seal the factory.

The factory has been allegedly releasing unwanted polluted water since 2008, which spoiled 70 acres of land in surrounding villages.

The polluted air from the factory causes various lung diseases among the people of Gandepalli, they alleged.

At least 10 people had died due to lung diseases every month. The villagers have complained to the Revenue Divisional Officer against the factory.

The Revenue Divisional Officer allegedly did not take immediate measures on the complaint.

The villagers were annoyed and staged a dharna at the Sub-Collector’s office.

The agitators submitted a memorandum to the A.O. soon after the dharna demanding the district administration to close the factory.
