The Seemandhra government employees are all set to go on strike again from November 24 midnight if the Central government does not stop the process of bifurcation of the State, APNGOs Association leader and Samaikyandhra Krishna District JAC convener Md. Iqbal has said.
Addressing mediapersons here on Friday, Mr. Iqbal said the government employees had told the Central government repeatedly to stop the process, but it was going ahead with it.
Samaikyandhra leaders went in a delegation led by APNGOs Association leader P. Ashok Babu to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, AICC president Sonia Gandhi and other leaders of the UPA government and submitted representations asking them to stop bifurcation, he said.
The JAC leader condemned the beating up of a samaikyandhra activist by a Sub-Inspector in Nuzvid in the presence of district Minister K. Parthasarathi.
Demanding the suspension of the police officer, the NGO leader said there was not a single incident of violence in the agitation against the bifurcation of the State.
The activists at Nuzvid were only trying to impress upon the Minister on the difference between the MPs of Seemandhra and those of Tamil Nadu.
The Prime Minister did not go to Sri Lanka yielding to the demand of a handful of MPs from Tamil Nadu, but the Congress was least bothered about the opinion of 24 MPs from Andhra Pradesh, he observed.
Lawyers’ arrest condemned
Samaikyandhra JAC coordinator Naraharisetti Srihari condemned the arrests of advocates, who were attempting to register their protest against the bifurcation.
He said the city police undermined the fundamental rights of the lawyers. They would approach the Apex court to stop the division, he added.
The NGO leader and Class IV Employees’ Association general secretary P. Srinivasa Rao said people of Seemandhra were confident that President Pranab Mukherjee and the Supreme Court would ensure no injustice would be done to them.
The leaders were told by the President that it was not possible to divide the State without resolving the various problems involved.
