: Police plan electronic surveillance in and around the city with about 1,500 Closed Circuit Televisions (CCTVs) and ten drones during Krishna Pushkarams to prevent thefts and other crimes.

Three sub-control rooms will be established at Police Control Room, Ibrahimpatnam and at the Penamaluru Police Station. All the CCTVs will be connected to the Command Control being installed at the Armed Reserve grounds. The City Security Wing (CWS) will operate drones and will be linked to the Command Control. Apart from traffic, diversion of crowd, situation of ghats, movement of criminals, strangers and suspects can be identified through CCTVs and drones. The Command Control will be under the control of the DG, said the police.

“As many as 17,000 police personnel, including IPS officers, additional SPs, State and Central Intelligence, Railway Police and other wings will be deputed for Krishna Pushkaram bandobust. Officials will monitor the situation at the parking lots, temples, junctions, thoroughfares, satellite bus and railway stations, queue lines, pushkar nagars, approach roads and the rush at Pandit Nehru Bus Station and the main railway station,” said the Pushkar Cell officials.

Besides many DSPs, CIs, SIs and constables, plainclothesmen will keep a tab on the movements of robbers, chain snatchers, attention diversion gangs, and eve teasers. CC cameras will be installed at 356 locations covering all the bathing ghats, pushkar nagars and other places for better crowd management, said City Police Commissioner D. Gautam Sawang.

Three emergency helipads are being readied at the Gannavaram airport, Ibrahimpatnam and Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation (IGMC) Stadium. Security has been stepped up at the airport and at the bus and railway stations as a preventive measure.

“All hotels, main roads and temples will be kept under electronic surveillance. Patrolling will be done round the clock on either sides of the Krishna. Public address systems will be arranged at many places giving security tips and other information,” said a CSW official.

Expert swimmers accompanied by the riverine police will be deployed indicating danger marks to prevent any untoward incident.
