A Division Bench of Hyderabad High Court, comprising Justices C.V. Nagarjuna Reddy and Shyam Prasad, on Friday declared that S. Rajendra Prasad, advocate from Vijayawada, would be the special public prosecutor in the criminal case at Visakhapatnam, wherein the Greyhounds police were accused of outraging the modesty of tribal women at Vakapalli in Visakhapatnam district in 2007. The Registrar was asked to obtain consent from him and place it on record. The Bench was disposing of appeals filed by the accused police and the State government.
The tribal women had alleged that the Greyhounds police raided their hamlet in the Eastern Ghat forests and outraged their modesty in 2007.

They had been requesting the courts to register criminal case against the police. They requested the government to appoint Trinadha Rao, an advocate in tribal laws and criminal cases, as the special pubic prosecutor as provisions of SC/ST( prevention of Atrocities) Act were also invoked. The single judge accepted the request and directed that he be appointed. This was challenged by the State government and the accused. The Bench had called for seven names of senior lawyers from A.P. and Telangana.
