Vijayawada IMA members launch relay fast

Members of the Indian Medical Association Vijayawada Chapter launched a relay fast to register their protest against the division of the state. IMA Vijayawada chapter president and chairman of Andhra Hospitals P.V.Ramana Murthy, cardiologist Kodali Ramakrishna, Senior ESI Civil Surgeon T.V.Narayana Rao and others participated in the relay fast on the first day.

IMA Vijayawada chapter secretary Vellanki Sridevi said that there would be nothing more undemocratic than division of the state even after such an uproar. “The people are behind the movement against in Seemandhra, but the separate Telangana movement was mobilised by politicians and some vested interests.

Dr. Sridevi said that doctors of different disciplines would participate in the relay fast. But any IMA member was welcome to participate on any day.

Former AP. Medical Council chairman V.Ramprasad, senior doctors and active IMA members Indla Ramasubba Reddy, Kamineni Pattabhiramaiah, were at the camp to express their solidarity to the cause.

MLAs Malladi Vishnu, Vellampali Srinivas, Devineni Umamaheswara Rao, former corporator P.Gowtham Reddy visited the camp to express their solidarity to agitation of the IMA members.
