A special exhibition of rare portraits of eminent people who led the movement for a separate Andhra State and also the original editions of newspapers which contain articles written on the movement concluded at the Annamayya Library on the premises of Sri Venkateswara Devastanam here on Monday.
Over 400 first editions of Telugu newspapers were displayed at the exhibition. News articles written on the cause of a separate Andhra State written by leading writers were displayed at the exhibition. Former MP Y. Sivaji said that the rare exhibition threw light on the issue facing the State and remarked that newspapers in that era played an important role in spreading the movement to the far corners of the State.
Rich tributes were paid to the stalwarts who played a significant role in espousing the cause of a separate State during “Telugu Velugulu,” and later Achanta Venkata Ratnam delivered a lecture on the eminence of Telugu verse poetry.
Ch. Ajay Kumar presented a dance recital on, "Saugaundha Saurabhalu," much to the delight of the audience.
