A festive atmosphere prevailed at Swaraj Maidan, the venue of 25th Vijayawada Book Festival (VBF) on Sunday as a huge crowd of book-lovers thronged to pick the books of their choice.
The rush was heavy as it was a holiday and a sizable number of them were children, who curiously searched the stalls for story and comic books and other things of interest.
Several teams participated in a visual quiz for children conducted by the organisers (Vijayawada Book Festival Society and National Book Trust) at Pratibha Pranganam while the elderly hit the stalls with lots of enquiries about the books they wanted to buy.
The 300-plus publishers did brisk business and looked forward to make the most of the annual exhibition in its remaining days.
The event draws to a close on January 11.
The birth centenary of Sankarambadi Sundarachari was celebrated at Malati Chandur Sahitya Vedika. Noted writers M. Bhaskara Naidu and M.Lakshmi, veteran journalist C. Raghavachari and others participated.
