A dash of Tollywood glamour sprinkled with classical performances from the children enlivened the inaugural of the two-day cultural carnival, Vignanotsav-2012 at Palakaluru on Wednesday.

The event hosted by Vignan Global Zen schools drew more than 3,500 students from 75 schools from Guntur, Prakasam, Krishna and Nellore districts, who would compete with each other in cultural, academic and sports events for the next two days on the sprawling premises of Vignan School. The total prize money of the event is a staggering Rs.5 lakh.

Nara Rohit, the young and upcoming hero of Tollywood, was the star attraction. An alumnus of the school, the dapper looking Rohit with his charming smile struck an instant chord with the students.

Addressing the students, Mr. Rohit said that festivals like these would be occasion to make new friends and asked the students to enjoy the ambience.

Stress on life skills

District Collector V.N Vishnu stressed on the importance of life skills and asked the children to focus on learning communication skills and soft skills. He urged the children to make best use of opportunities available since the India's young population is set to be the driving force behind its expected growth.

Chairman of Vignan Group of Institutions, Lavu Rathaiah said that events like these would be a learning ground for students to inculcate leadership and managerial skills.

Students would learn man management and team building skills as they serve, cater and look after students from other schools.

Executive Director, Paturi Nageswara Rao said that events like these would show case skills of the students.

Zonal Manager G. Koormanath, Principal Ch. Srinivas and others were present.
